Wah... u all realli get excited about seeing teachers. It was a rather last minute thingy too mah. Anyway we can always go back anytime we want. It's not that only Teachers Day then can go back..... now the teachers should be more free since the study breaks are here. Maybe can chat with them longer when you all go back. Heya, I dont think I am very enthu 'bout hostel life cos the rooms at PGP are rather small... haha. Anyway, it was very qiao tt Kaiwen, zhiwen n I met at the Yio Chu Kang driving centre yesterday. Mi and Kai Wen jie were there to learn driving. Then suddenly while we were chatting zhiwen came in to the place. I was rather shocked lor, so much coincidence :)
And this place like di-ded down alot ar, lesser contributions from others liao......

hmm... Prof Voon. If I not wrong he teaching embryology. He is very funny one :) He makes embryology learning very intersting and very easy to understand. today i had my first anatomy lecture. it is different from med one. i think it is much easier. anyway the lecturer was really interesting n funny..n he taught in a way tat is quite enlightening. the med pple should noe him right?? i cannot remb his name. prof voon or something. today was also my first time in anatomy hall.. looking at those bodies was interesting but disturbing. they keep reminding me tat human beings have to die one day.
erm. so far none of my lectures r posted online leh. for me is all chem n bio n byebye to math n physics.

well, survived anatomy lecture today... came ou blur like sotong forgetting all the words the lecturer said (i call him elvis cos of his hair style :)
anyway, anat's diff cos its like learning a whole new vocab with words that just dont make sense, is sheer, pure memory work for some parts. I still have trouble with that. Hopefully I will get used to it soon. The lecturer called it the language of medicine. It sure is a new language to me, since I really din ctch much of what he was sayin haha.

Of course the doctors make use of the chance to earn money la. It is a simple supply vs demand economic problem. If you are dying in the middle of the night, how many clinics are still open? Even if they charge exhorbitant rates, u oso have to lanlan suck thumb go see them. My camp canteen oso sells food at ridiculous prices as it monopolise the market there... luckily me bring food up to sell at lower prices... hahahaha...

The risk of being a doctor, you see, is by mixing intangible stuff like lives and moral values with dirty, filthy money, u risk corrupting your very soul that defines a human. U may start out with noble aspirations.. but... well...I hope this class doctors turn out well... i have to depend on them for MC.... I think many of the doctors started out with high aspirations, want to save lives la, will donate money to charity la, treat for free la... yet people in ethiopa is still dying at a ridiculous rate.

Im so cynical i hate myself at times.

I finally see some hope in our future docs. But seriously, how many docs out there work hard just for the sake of their patients. That day around 2am, my fren fell ill and we gotta send her to one of the 24-hr clinics. The consultation fee was S$100+++, prob 5 times more than normal times. It's not as if tt doc provided some high-class service. I really wonder why theres such stark contrast in e prices between normal clinics and 24-hr clinics. Do they really need to be be paid 5 times more for a service rendered at 2am. 'Cos basically I think most of them work in shifts - 2 docs tending the clinic. Perhaps it's only that !@#@!$# clinic, I dunno abt others. So maybe future docs here... you'd like to offer free/subsidised services for the poor and aged or even go offer voluntary services in countries like ethiopia. Hahaha

Hmm, I don't know about you pple.. but for my case.. I think lectures are useless. First, you gotta print out those so-called lecture notes aka ppt slides which probably only act as pointers for the lecturers (so tt he wouldn't get stuck halfway, & not know what to say). Next, he'll start sayin things that are so so out of point. I love sectional-teaching aka seminars. For the first time in my entire life, I didn't need the aid of mentos to help me stay awake... it's so interactive and it really makes you THINK. 'cos even if you ask the teacher a stupid qns.. he'll answer it. And right on the spot, everyone has their doubts cleared, 'cos everyone asks qns and no one would be afraid tt other ppl would think ur stupid and all that crap.

Txtbks will be ex. We just gotta find someone who wants to be buy frm you in e 2nd sem. Shud be no prob.

to shaoqiang: not tat i want to waste money to buy tb. but zapping notes n borrowing notes r really frustrating. sometimes my 4 hrs breaks r just wasted on travelling here n there to borrow books from lib n going somewhere esle to zap blar blar blar. i also feel quite xin tong to spend so much on tb tat y i am teaching tuition so i dun feel so guilty. most likely spending more than 50 20 cos thinking of buying a few others too.

You can be the master of yourself, work hard and become who you realli thought that is the perfect person, yet people can still scold u...

Don't be too sad by your ex-colleague's death. He went for the operation of his own free will, fueled by his trust for the technical expertise of doctors in Singapore, he will have no regrets. It is precisely becos life is beautiful, dats y he is willing to risk it to exchange for a normal life like ours, where he can truly enjoy all aspects of life. Treasuring others is easy; making them feel treasured is doubly hard, for we often hide our own inner feelings --> treasure life, but oso try and make others feel treasured too.... Baby, baby, life can be so beautiful...

Yup, I agree with Soon Wee. Thugh it is true that our studying will be tough judging from what our OGLs have been telling us and what the Profs have been saying, we should constantly remind ourselves that what we are studying is not for that Distinction or to pass. The atlas looks daunting, but we need to realise that what we do now is to enable us to become a better doctor in future. We are not studying for a degree, we are not studying for ourselves but we are studying for the patients whose lives will be in our hands. Even for those in Pharmacy, this is also true cos in the future, we will be entering into a service industry. We will be interecting with people who depend on us. Let us focus not on the process no matter how ardous it may seem but on the end. Just consider what we can do with our first aid knowledge in situations like the stabbing incident yesterday. For me, being able to disrupt was a blessing, nothing short of a miracle. I need to cherish this new lease of life and make it count. I made up my mind to study hard in Uni with the right mindset during the matriculation talks two weeks ago because I saw the importance of our studies.
What would be the result if we just did not pay attention during the First Aid lectures and coincidentily some one seating near us in the hawker centre chokes? Everything we do have a reason, and everything we study is for a greater cause. I confess that in JC, I studied just for the results not seeing the bigger picture, that's why I always complain about how difficult it is and how much I hate certain subjects. What we do now, let us do it well. Life is precious. Let us live each day such that we can look back and say that we have spent it well.

today is quite a sad day for me cos i got news that my ex-colleague at my unit has passed away.. he is same age as us frm njc pes e due to hole in heart.. supposed to haf operation a few mths ago at ttsh but his op got delayed due to sars.. recently he went for his op and den his cousin broke the news to me juz now thru his hp.. well.. a lot of feelings running thru me but i dunno how to describe them, probably a mixture of shock and sadness..
i think life is a really transient thing and u never really noe wat is going to happen.. so dont take anything for granted and do treasure your lives and also the pple around you, even the pple u dislike or even hate.. cos i think we shud learn to accept the way we are made and also that of the pple ard us.
and for all of us budding doctors, we shud really study hard, not solely for the tests and exams, but for our future patients, as the prof had said,.. bcos we will be responsible for their lives in the near future.
lastly, life is beautiful so do take care of yourselves and cherish every moment and treasure the pple ard u!

I visited the mednet website earlier on and saw our timetable. sigh..... i hope wun have to attend everythin on it if not it seems like everyday is 8 to 5... haha. Anyway fer ur info Ms Yap, Andrew was the bumble bee with his sexy butt. And i was the spider girl who walked in first fer our scene.
I was having gastric pains when we reached the track at 5 am lor. I nearly gave the seniors a heart attack. Someone had to run all the way back to the med fac to get me medicine. The rest of the M2s were arguing over wat to give me. All they knew was acid was coming out to attack the 1st layer of stomach wall... Then they fought over wat food had proteins to buffer the acid.. bloody hell. The M1s were mother henning over me. Then after tt OGLs had to buy me warm Milo. Sigh make me feel so bad. I was practically lying on the track in pain. Anyway the feeling of winning later was v good lah.

I would like to clarify something...

Medicine won the best faculty PRESENTATION award. Medicine was only competing with those facs without lorries aka floats. Science won the best faculty FLOAT PRESENTATION award. Bizad won the best float award, best float design award, most collection per capita, best flag day collection, best total coin collection, most environmentally friendly float, and the overall champion. And if u think it's stupid, go blame those ppl who came up with these awards. We are innocent!! Basically I think everyone did a good job. But I'm quite proud of my 2 lions!!!! Did u guys see the lions!?!? Hah... nvm.

wah these 2 days do com service but i think it is more fun and meaningful than i thought.. yesterday mi and zeyun sold roses and potpurri at novena.. not bad i think got quite a bit of donations cos the tin was quite heavy haha.. den today brought people frm society of physically disabled to sungei buloh.. mi and another fren helped these 2 wheelchair bound people to the toilet.. wah i din noe it will be so tough loh.. den one needed a change of pants cos we din haf skill ended up helping him wet his pants..
yah tmr those free can come down to support.. come look for this shocking pink signboard.. we selling accessories for girls, not very sure wat lah, from 12 noon to 8pm.. so zhiwen after work can come find us too!
linwah and andrew, jiayou ah med fac depend on u liao.. anw most of my og pple will be staying back on thur nite too to give u all support.. haf fun this wk everyone!

Yes please , come down n support Rag this Friday. Lin wah has suffered the entire weekend hobbling around the house and unable to sit down because of sore muscles. heh, im back again.. whew... feels gd to be back home again...

To Linwah, if you dun want to be the same as others, I can give u a suggestion.
Cut Tekong's all time, never out of trend fashion haircut.
Gurantee u that u will attract more attention den u can ever imagine. ( which I suppose may not be a bad thing for u )
Saves the irritation u get over ur hair somemore.
